Twentieth Century British Literature

Flag.jpg
In this course we will be surveying a number of important texts from British literature from across the Twentieth Century. British society went through many crucial historical changes during the period, among them the rise of modernism, the fall of empire, two world wars, and a cold war. These transitions affected the British people as a whole very deeply, and British writers in the period reflected on them in a variety of ways. We will be using these texts as a way to connect with British culture and society across the period. Assessment will be by two papers, a presentation, and a final exam.

This Wiki will be the central point of connection for us all as a class. It will be the place where we make comments about our thinking on the readings, extend the conversation past the classroom, present polished ideas of our own, and refer to the the ideas of others to help us develop our writing.

The Syllabus and Calendar of readings are available here, both to view (HERE), or to download (HERE).
